Dear friend,
This is the season of joy and
cheer, hope and warmth. We at Community Ministries wish you all of that and
more. This is also the season when thoughts frequently turn to those people who
are less fortunate.
Over the past year we have seen
an alarming trend. The number of people in our community who are homeless or
nearly homeless, the majority of whom are children, has skyrocketed. During this
time the resources that we receive to help them have been slashed. We are
NOT
able to help a very
large number of people who turn to us. We – they – need your help.
Please consider making a
contribution to Community Ministries this year on behalf of those people in
our community who are at risk. Let us work together to bring some security and
hope to our brethren.

A new educational program of Community
Ministries for students in grades 4-8, STAR Land Academy works with students who need some assistance in a nontraditional educational
setting. Students will work on core subjects through tutoring and homework help, while
participating in enrichment activities to promote non-cognitive learning.

7:30 AM - 5:30 PM
In January 2012, we will also be open
from 7:30 - 8:30 AM for students in the Hazard Independent
School system, as the district will be starting an hour later each morning.
