Childcare Programs

Hazard Perry County Community Ministries early childhood programs are designed
to meet the needs of families in the area. New Beginnings is open year round from 6:30 am until
9:00 pm, Monday through Friday and 6:30am to 5:30pm on Saturday (after school until 6:00 pm and from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm when school is not in session).
Community Ministries is part of a state-wide effort to improve the quality of child care.
We participate in the Stars for KIDS Now Program, which includes an annual quality evaluation. All age groups served by Community Ministries' centers have reached a three star rating.
The centers serve children from 6 weeks through 12 years. The staff at the three centers are all trained in CPR and First-Aid. The center is staffed by caring people who are committed to the goal of quality child care. All have backgrounds and training in early childhood education, and New Beginnings has partnered with the Hazard Community and Technical College to offer on-site child development classes.
Community Ministries' child care centers participate in the USDA Food Program which guarantees compliance with federal requirements for children's nutrition. The children are provided with a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack all freshly prepared on site. Dinner is also served to children at New Beginnings during extended hours. Our menus are posted monthly in each classroom for your review.
Infant Care
Tender loving care is what our babies receive. Research shows that brain development is rapid during the first three years of life and that babies need to feel a sense of trust within their environment, especially with the people who care for them each day. In addition to children's basic needs,
Community Ministries' centers incorporate stimulating toys and activities to encourage growth and development. Children are taken outside to play everyday as weather permits. Parents are responsible for providing food for babies until the child is old enough to eat table food.
Toddler Care
Toddlers are in a very dynamic stage of life. During the two years between their first and third birthdays, children are busy exploring their world, discovering that they are separate from their parents and caregivers, learning how to use the toilet and mastering a very complex language. Community Ministries' centers foster this development in toddlers.
Preschool Care
Community Ministries' preschool program is geared for children between the ages of three and five. The curriculum is centered on the belief that children learn best through hands-on, play-based experiences. Children are guided through their "play" and encouraged to develop skills preparing them for school.
School Age Care
The
School Age Child Care Program cares for children after school and all day during
the summer months. This program is planned for ages 6 through 12. We believe
that a child should have a summer filled with fun activities. We take numerous
outings, make several trips and tours out of town, have guest speakers and
provide other activities that are of interest to children. The program is also
open for snow days, school vacation and other times school is not in session.
