Our early childhood education and preschool programs are designed to meet the needs of families in our community, from Perry County and beyond. We are part of a statewide effort to improve the quality of child development. We participate in STARS for KIDS NOW, which includes an annual quality evaluation on standards well above basic center licensing. All age groups and programs under our umbrella have attained 3 STARS, which is a rare honor in our region. We are committed to advocating for high quality child development in our community and ensuring that we have the resources for those can least afford it.
We participate in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program and provide our children with a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack. Dinner is served when we operate extended hours. Our menus are both posted monthly in classrooms as well as sent home with the monthly lesson plans to each child's parent.
All age groups are taken outside to play and have physical activity as the weather permits.
The Director of Daycare Programs is Edna Turner, who has worked for Community Ministries since 1981. She can be reached at New Beginnings by calling 439-1122 or email.
New Beginnings serves children from 6 weeks through 12
years. We work with our children to develop life skills, gross and fine motor
skills, and school preparation. Our staff are trained in CPR and first aid. New Beginnings is staffed by
caring people who are committed to our children. We have a mix of veteran
caregivers with fresh faces in the field. Our staff is encouraged and
incentivized to study early childhood education.
Tender loving care is what our babies receive. Research
shows that brain development is rapid during the first three years of life, and
babies need to feel a sense of trust within their environment. At New
Beginnings, we meet your baby's basic needs and incorporate stimulating
activities to encourage growth and development. We provide baby food and formula
for your child. Parents are responsible for providing diapers, wipes,
bottles, as well as breast milk or formula if desired.
During the two years between their first and third birthdays, children are busy exploring their world, discovering that they are separate from their parents and caregivers, and mastering a very complex language. Our staff at New Beginnings fosters this development in toddlers.
Our preschool classes are geared for children between
the ages of 3 and 5. We use Creative Curriculum, which is the standard
curriculum in our community. We believe that children learn best through
hands-on, play-based experiences. Children entering Kindergarten from New
Beginnings are some of the best-prepared students in our community's schools.
New Beginnings is located below ARH Hospital, between
Roy Campbell Drive and the Hal Rogers Parkway, next to the new Hospice inpatient
facility.
