Located in downtown Hazard, Corner Haven Crisis Center provides crisis
assistance to people in need. We are open 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
Corner Haven has
6 cots for emergency shelter and 12
beds for transitional shelter for men and women. These beds provide a temporary
place for people to stay while they are working on plans for the future.
Transitional residents participate in the life of the shelter by cooking meals,
cleaning the center, and doing other activities that can help them to develop
life skills necessary for living independently. We also offer on-site primary
medical care twice a month. Transitional residents are linked to our case
manager, who can help them set and reach their goals around housing, employment,
and education.
Our case management staff work with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We help develop housing assessments, individual development plans, and transportation for goal-related activities.
Corner Haven offers a variety of crisis assistance services to help families and individuals who are in need. Much of what we have to offer comes from the kind donations from our community, including furniture, household goods, and financial assistance, while other resources are provided through grants from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development, particularly the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. Resources include:
Financial assistance for pending utility discounts
Mediation with utility companies
Clothing
Household goods
Furniture
Short-term rental assistance
Motel vouchers
Food boxes
We offer 3 meals per day to both our residents and people in the community who are hungry. Meals are served at approximately 8 AM, 12 noon, and 5:30 PM. We also offer food boxes for households in need.
